
Dr. Olga Roussou is a member of the laboratory teaching staff at the Department of Geography, University of the Aegean. She holds a Ph.D. in forest fuel modeling, forest fire simulation, and management from the University of the Aegean (Department of Geography). She also holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Policy and Management and a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies from the University of the Aegean (Department of Environment). Her research focuses on natural hazards and 3D geovisualization, with expertise in collecting and processing forest data before and after wildfires. Her research interests include forest fuel management, fire behavior modeling, wildfire simulation and management, GIS/WebGIS applications, 2D/3D mapping, and 3D visualization of geospatial data. She has participated as a researcher in 11 EU- and nationally funded research projects, contributing to publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and national and international scientific conferences. Since 2014, as a permanent faculty member, she has been teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the Department of Geography at the University of the Aegean, covering topics in physical geography and geoinformatics, both independently and as a co-teacher. She has supervised bachelor’s and master’s theses and serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals specializing in geoinformatics, forest fires, and natural disasters.
