Mihail Koutsidis is Geographer (Department of Geography / University of the Aegean, 2022). During his undergraduate studies, his academic interests focused on Physical Geography and Geoinformatics. In 2022, he completed a two-month internship at the Lesvos Forest Directorate, where he was responsible for managing and digitizing geospatial data using GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS. As a certified UAV operator (Open Category), he also designed and conducted UAV flights to capture RGB imagery for mapping areas of interest. Immediately after completing his internship, he fulfilled his military service as a conscript at the Hellenic Army’s Geographic Service (GYS). Assigned to the Human Geography Department of the Directorate of Geographic Policy and Studies, his duties included collecting and evaluating geospatial data using GIS software and preparing datasets in accordance with the database standards and specifications of the International Human Geography Program. In 2023, following his military service, he enrolled in the Master’s Program Geography and Applied Geoinformatics at the University of the Aegean. His primary research interests include GIS, Remote Sensing, Aerial Digital Photogrammetry, and Thematic Cartography. His thesis is titled: Classification of UAV Images Using Convolutional Neural Networks and Semantic Segmentation Methods.
